Yet another piece that I've had finished for a while and been too lazy to upload until now.

For the 2.7% of you who recognize this, sklahjgflksjhglaksghisn'tMononokethecoolestthingever?

And for the 97.3% of you who don't, this is the Medicine Seller ("Kusuri-Uri") and his Other Self from the anime Mononoke (NOT the movie Princess Mononoke, as I had to repeat to many people at Momocon a couple weeks ago), which aired in Japan last summer and sadly hasn't gotten licensed yet. Not that I would ever commit the travesty of watching a dubbed form of it, not when Kusuri-Uri is voiced by Takahiro Sakurai (dead sexy, srsly), but it deserves to be licensed.

Anyway, erm. This series is visually AMAZING. It's like Ukiyo-e (Japanese woodblock prints) and Art Nouveau and a little Klimt all wrapped together and then animated, and I haven't done the utter gorgeousness of it any justice at all. And now I really have to stop gushing and just shove you in the direction of the Wikipedia article and ANN page.

*shuts up*





Mononoke and all its wonder (or, well, the character and concept designs, according to Wikipedia, which may be on crack) belong to Takeshi Hashimoto.

I don't know who the character is but this is beautiful! Now I have to go find out what this Mononoke is all about, thank you XD. But seriously, the artwork turned out asteicly (sp?) and proportiaonal pleasing. Great work :-3

Anyway, I like the washed-out effect you used on this, but I still think it needs some darker colors. You used darker brown to shade his demon half, but the right looks duller. Either way, great work.

(In all seriousness, I like how you decided to handle his dual sides. I've been trying to think of how to draw both but be inventive and communicate that they are the same person.... still trying to figure that out)
