Now *this* is what REAL fairies look like.

Yes, dear people, this is Fostismeras, and he is a fairy. In the 'old' sense, before the Victorian era ruined fairies' image. If you were to meet Fostis and remark on his height (he's over 6 feet tall) or lack of wings, he'd laugh at you. And then he might turn you into a plant or something, because it's not a good idea to piss off a *real* fairy. They only do kind, helpful thngs when they feel like it. Which isn't often.
Fostis, however, is generally fairly good-natured. He's played by one of my room-mates in an online text rpg, set in ancient Greece (which has recently had some contact with ancient Britain, hence Fostis's presence in the game).

It was fun to do another picture in the more 'painterly' (i.e. lineart-less) style I've been trying out recently. It was also fun to try to get him 'right' without any *visual* reference. All I had to go on was his in-game description - here's a [slightly edited] excerpt:

Hair the color of gold is tied back by a strip of leather, a few wispy strands escaping to elegantly frame a pair of mischievous violet eyes. He is wearing a hip-length white vest, open in front to show a sculpted smooth chest where a gleaming crystal pendant on a fine gold chain dangles just under his collarbone. White doeskin pants rest perilously low on his hipbones, a green brocade sash embroidered with gold thread securing them loosely in place. A matching pair of tan suede boots complete his clothing. Fostismeras is tall and athletic and his fine lips seem to be always curled into a whimsical smile.
